Product Videos

The example above is a simple video we used to promote our 360 spin video for e-commerce on social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. We utilized Adobe After Effects to create this 15-second video, adding sound to sync with the timeline of the 360 rotation. This brought the product to life as it danced through the rotation.

360-degree product photography

Our clients initially only wanted 360 photography, which consisted of 40 images in a single rotation. later, they also requested an MP4 output as well, which we used to create the final 360 spin video in our project. If your photography studio does not provide MP4s for your final output, you can create one from the sequential images. If your studio doesn’t include sequential images, we suggest finding a new provider for your 360 views!

How to make a 360-product video

Quicktime Image Sequence

We are a mac studio, so I will walk you through the way that we create videos of our 360 view on our machines.

  1. You start with the sequential images in a folder.
  2. Using the QuickTime Player App, choose File > Open Image Sequence.
  3. Select your image sequence folder
  4. Set the quality of the video
    1. Choose “Actual Size” for “Resolution”
    2. Choose “24 Frames Per Second” for “Frame Rate”
    3. Choose “Greater Compatibility h.264” for “Encode For”
  5. Now Save the video at your desired location.

It is that simple to have a single rotation of the product that is in a video format that can be used in your preferred video editing software.

Using your 360 video

Now in no way are we trying to create a how to article on After Effects, but I will show you quickly how to add your created 360 video into a project and how to add it to your timeline.

  1. Open Adobe After Effects.
  2. Select “New Project”
  3. File > Import > File and select your 360 rotation video
  4. Select your 360 video from the project window and drag it onto your composition timeline

You have now added your 360 video to another project and double the use of your 360 product photography assets.

Video spin

Many things can be done with your 360 product videos. Now instead of using a still image of your product in your video presentations, you can use the rotating asset. Additionally, you can control the timeline of the asset and animate it to desired positions during different sections of you video.

Here is an example that PhotoSpherix created in 2020 for Escient Technologies that shows many of the options that you can use in your video. From callouts to rotations to timed dancing to flyouts, the options are now endless. You can also not showcase all the angles of your product to generate interest.
